BlackBerry 10 Hack-a-thon at FRI

February 22, 2013

On Saturday, 9 March 2013 at 8.00 the student hack-a-thon for developing mobile applications for the BlackBerry 10 platform will take place at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI). FRI is the main organiser, while the co-organiser is the Canadian company BlackBerry. There will also be great prizes to win: tablet computers and smartphones.

Hack-a-thon is an event where an individual or a group of two developers develop an application in ten hours, at the end of which a specialised committee with members from FRI, Blackberry, and a Slovenian team of BlackBerry device developers choose the winners. Experienced developers and experts will provide advice to participants during the development process. There will also be mobile devices available (tablet computers and smartphones) to test the applications on throughout the contest.

Refreshments and a pleasant atmosphere are guaranteed!
Participants will develop applications on their own laptops, which they will bring with them. In order to facilitate the developers' preparation of laptops, a lecture will be held at FRI on 27 February 2012 at 18h, where the laptop preparation process on how to develop mobile applications for BalckBerry 10 platform will be presented (for those of you who will not be able to attend the lecture the preparation instructions will be posted a few days before the event). There will also be a general presentation of the BlackBerry 10 platform, so that the participants understand why so many international companies and corporations worldwide transition to Blackberry 10 devices, as well as why BlackBerry is so popular among young people in specific regions of the world.
BlackBerry 10 is a modern mobile platform for the next decade, enabling development in the following SDK:
  • Native C/C++ SDK with the possibility to use the Qt/Cascades Frame,
  • WebWorks HTML5 SDK with the possibility to use bbUI, PhoneGap, jQuery, Dojo, Sencha and Titanium Frames
  • AIR/ActionScript 3 SDK with the possibility to use the Flex Frame.
Register and apply on the BlackBerry website.
All welcome!
