Predavanje "CERN technology in our everyday lives"
ob 13:15

Predavanje bo v predavalnici P19.

CERN technology in our everyday lives: from world wide web to proton therapy

Povzetek:

CERN is most famous for finding the smallest of particles - like the Higgs Boson - which tend to have a big impact on society. In this talk I would like to briefly share some of the opportunities for Slovenian students and researchers at CERN and present how Cosylab controls some of this worlds most advanced particle accelerators.

How are these machines controlled? When it comes to controlling devices such as a proton therapy accelerator, the role of the control system software is BIG. The control system has to synchronize, monitor and control around 1000+ devices, which together perform a set of complex tasks, starting by accerating the beam, delivering the right dose of radiation safely and accurately to the patient.

How do we manage to achieve all that and have fun while doing it? Come and see for yourself.

O predavatelju:
Samo Tuma joined Cosylab 2013 as a software engineer. Since, he spent most of his time working on the MedAustron and HIMM projects. Currently, Samo can be found working on-site in Geneva, where he is working for Cosylab as the key accounts manager at CERN.
