Mr. Miran Mihelčič was born in 1942 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After he finished secondary school of economics and faculty of economics in Ljubljana and obtained the title of bachelor of science in economics he joined – in 1965 - the big Slovenian enterprise, engaged in broad variety of installations and some dependent products, IMP, Ljubljana, with almost 3000 employees. From 1972 to 1975 he was head of organization and information system department in the same enterprise. Already as a master of business administration (1972 at University of Ljubljana) he joined the Chamber of economy of Slovenia in Ljubljana in 1975 as head of market, production and allocation of gross domestic product department.

Since 1972 he has been lecturing at the University of Ljubljana, first as a contracting lecturer, then, since 1982 as an employee of the forerunner of the nowadays Faculty of computer and information science. Today he lectures in the latter. After he had gained PhD in BA in 1982 (University of Ljubljana), he obtained the British scholarship (Leverhulme Trust) for nine months’ research work at the nowadays Cranfield University. From 1981 to 2005, this time as a full professor, he has been given classes to the under-graduated and post-graduated students at 8 faculties of the Ljubljana and the Maribor University, regarding topics in business economics, theory of organization, income distribution and business functions.

In his research work he mostly deals with analysis of the quality of formal social units’ organization, governors’ and managers’ decision-making and their information systems, issues in the field of income distribution, and with the contents of governance and management functions.

In 2001 he has been given a title of honorary member of the Union of Economists of Slovenia.
