• Gaia Explorer - Web-based visualization of Gaia mission data
The Client : ( Gaia Explorer )
Project duration: 2026 - 2028
  • Description

The Gaia Explorer project is developing a state-of-the-art web platform that will enable interactive 3D visualization of large-scale astronomical data from the Gaia mission and other sets of the European Space Agency (ESA). The main guideline of the development is the elimination of technical barriers that have so far limited the use of such tools to a narrow circle of professionals due to complex installations and specific hardware. Using the most advanced web standards, such as WebGPU, the platform will enable seamless exploration of millions of celestial bodies directly in the browser, including on mobile devices, opening up new avenues for scientific communication and education. The solution architecture is based on an innovative back-end system for fast data streaming and hierarchical rendering, which ensures low latency and high responsiveness regardless of the size of the observed set. The development is strategically aligned with the upcoming releases of new datasets, providing researchers and the public with a timely tool for direct insight into the latest findings about our galaxy.
