APPLICATION

  • When and where is the Call for enrolment to the master's study programmes published?

The Call for enrolment in master's study programmes is published every year (approximately in the month of March) on the website of the University of Ljubljana and on the faculty website. The call states the application deadlines and criteria for individual master's study programmes offered by faculties within the University of Ljubljana.

  • What are the enrolment conditions for individual master's study programmes of the University of Ljubljana?

The enrolment conditions for each study programme are published in the current Call for Enrolment.

  • What are the enrolment conditions for individual master's study programmes at FRI?

The enrolment conditions for the master's study programme Computer and Information Science – Computer and Information Science track and Data Science track as well as the master's study programme Multimedia are published on the faculty website (under each individual study programme) and in the Call for Enrolment.

  • Where is more information about the master's study programmes at FRI published?

More information about master's study programmes is available on the faculty website.

  • How do I submit an application?

In all application periods for enrolment, the candidate submits an application using an electronic form on the website of the eVŠ portal. The application can be submitted with a means of electronic identification of at least medium level of assurance (with a qualified digital certificate, smsPASS, electronic identity card), with an AAI account, or with a username and password through the SI PASS system, which operates within the framework of the State Trust Services Centre.

  • Until when is it possible to apply for the master's study programmes at FRI for the academic year 2026/2027?

For the master's study programmes Computer and Information Science – Computer and Information Science track and Data Science track as well as the master's study programme Multimedia, the application is submitted through the eVŠ portal until 30 June 2026. The application through the eVŠ portal is also submitted by students who are completing or have already completed undergraduate study at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. An application is considered timely if it has been completed and submitted by the announced deadline with a means of electronic identification, with an AAI account, or without a secure electronic signature (username and password) in eVŠ.

  • Do I have to send a signed application anywhere?

No. The electronic application is sufficient.

  • How do I know that the application for enrolment has been correctly submitted?

The candidate receives a confirmation notification that the application has been successfully submitted to the e-mail address that they entered in the application for enrolment.

  • Is it possible to submit multiple applications at the same time?

The number of applications to individual faculties of the University of Ljubljana is unlimited. A candidate can select at most three master's study programmes/tracks within a single application at a specific faculty. At the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, the candidate can submit only one application for enrolment, in which they can select at most three master's study programmes/tracks. The application and instructions for application are available at the eVŠ portal.

Example: The candidate, when submitting the application, selects the application period for the Faculty of Computer and Information Science of the University of Ljubljana. Within this application, they select at most three study programmes/tracks. As a first wish, they choose the master's study programme Computer and Information Science – Computer and Information Science track, since they most wish to enrol in this study track. As the second wish, they choose the master's study programme Multimedia, and as the third wish, they choose the Data Science track.

Because they are also interested in certain master's study programmes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (the programmes Mathematics and Computer Science and Mathematics) and at the School of Economics and Business (the programmes Business Informatics, Entrepreneurship, and Economics with Data Analysis), they check the Call for Enrolment and which conditions they must meet for enrolment and until when the application for these study programmes/tracks is open in the eVŠ portal. The candidate finds that applications are currently open, therefore they open a new application through the eVŠ portal and select the application period for the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and in the application choose the programmes Mathematics and Computer Science and Mathematics and submit the application. Then they open another application through the eVŠ portal and select the application period of the School of Economics and Business. On the application they choose the programmes Business Informatics, Entrepreneurship, and Economics with Data Analysis. In each application, as the first wish, they choose the master's study programme for which they are most interested in.

  • What does it mean, that I can submit multiple applications and is the order of wishes in an individual application important?

The number of applications to individual faculties of the University of Ljubljana is unlimited. For the Faculty of Computer and Information Science candidates can submit only one application for enrolment through the eVŠ portal, in which they can choose at the most three master's study programmes/tracks. In the case the candidates chooses two or three master's study programmes/tracks, they will be placed in the first programme for which they meet all conditions.

Example 1: The candidate submits an application through the eVŠ portal where they select the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. Within the application, they have the option of three wishes. For the first wish they choose the programme Computer and Information Science, Data Science track (the programme and track in which they are most interested), as the second wish they choose the Computer and Information Science track, and as the third wish they choose the programme Multimedia. After the selection exam and the completion of submission of documentation, the candidate is ranked according to the wishes in the submitted application. The candidate has achieved low points within the selection criteria in the case of limited enrolment for admission to the Data Science track and the Computer and Information Science track, but he has enough points for the programme Multimedia. They are invited to enrol in the programme Multimedia.

Example 2: The candidate submits an application through the eVŠ portal where they select the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. Within the application, they have the option of three wishes. As the first and only wish, they choose the programme Multimedia. After the selection examination and the completion of submission of documentation, it is reviewed whether the candidate meets the criteria for enrolment within the selection criteria in the case of limited enrolment. Unfortunately, due to the surplus number of applicants for the programme Multimedia, they do not reach the required number of points for enrolment and are not admitted to the programme.

Example 3: The candidate submits an application through the eVŠ portal where they select the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. Within the application, they have the option of three wishes. As the first preference, they choose the programme Computer and Information Science, Computer and Information Science track (the programme and track in which they are most interested), as the second wish they choose the programme Multimedia, and as the third wish they choose the Data Science track. After the selection examination and the completion of submission of evidence, it is reviewed whether the candidate meets the criteria for enrolment within the selection criteria in the case of limited enrolment and they are ranked according to the preferences in the submitted application. The candidate has achieved too fewer points for the Computer and Information Science track but has enough points for the programme Multimedia. They are invited to enrol in the programme Multimedia. Because they are just below the threshold of points for possible enrolment in the Computer and Information Science track, they decide that they will wait two days in case any of the admitted candidates decides not to enrol in the Computer and Information Science track and thereby frees an enrolment place. If the place is not freed, they will enrol in the programme Multimedia.

  • What happens if I'm admitted to a master's study programme at a different faculty at the University of Ljubljana and they have a different enrolment deadline than FRI?

Example: The candidate submits an application through the eVŠ portal where they select the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (as the first wish they choose the Computer and Information Science track, as the wish they choose the programme Multimedia), and later they also submit an application to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, where as their only wish they choose the master's study programme Electrical Engineering. After the selection examination and the completion of submission of documentation, each faculty separately ranks the candidate according to the wishes in the submitted applications. Because at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering they complete the selection procedure earlier, they inform the candidate on 12 September that he has been admitted to the master's study programme Electrical Engineering and must enrol no later than 15 September. At the Faculty of Computer and Information Science the information on whether they have been admitted to the desired master's study programme will be available after 17 September. The candidate can decide to enrol in the master's study programme Electrical Engineering, but if after 17 September they are admitted and invited to enrol in the desired master's study programme or track at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, they enrol in that study programme and at the same time inform the Faculty of Electrical Engineering that they wish to cancel the enrolment in the first year of the master's study programme Electrical Engineering. Cancellation of enrolment is possible until 30 September, that is until the start of the new academic year of the year of study into which the candidate enrols in the month of September. The candidate cannot be enrolled in more than one master's study programme at the same time within regular enrolment in the first year.

  • What does the enrolment limitation in master's study programmes at FRI mean?

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available placements, announced in the Call for enrolment, a decision on the limitation of enrolment is adopted. Candidates are then selected according to the criteria and procedures for the selection of candidates in the case of enrolment limitation, as determined by each individual master's study programme/track. The conditions are published on the faculty website (under each individual master's study programme/track) and in the Call for Enrolment.

  • Where can I see the statistics on the number of applicants, points from the selection examination, and the average grade that candidates had to achieve for admission to master's  study programmes at FRI in the past five years?

Statistical records are not kept and the data is not available.

  • When will information be available about which master's study programmes at FRI have enrolment limitations and whether a selection exam will take place?

Information about enrolment limitations for the academic year 2026/2027 will be available after 6 July 2026. Candidates, who will submit their application on time and correctly, will be informed about the specifics of the selection exam by e-mail after 6 July 2026.

  • How do candidates who have graduated or will graduate from FRI apply for master's study programmes at FRI?

The procedure for candidates who have graduated or will graduate from FRI is the same as for all other candidates. They must submit an application through the eVŠ portal within the application deadline.

  • I missed the application for master's study programmes at FRI in the first application period. Will there be a second application period and how can I apply?

In the case of possible remaining available places for the academic year 2026/2027, information about the second application period will be published on the Faculty of Computer and Information Science website on 23 September 2026. The deadline for submitting applications through the eVŠ portal will be until and including 24 September 2026, and the deadline for submitting supporting documents will be until and including 27 September 2026.

  • Which documentation must graduates of FRI submit?

Graduates of FRI, who submit their application on time through the eVŠ portal (for the master's study programmes Computer Science and Informatics – track Computer and Information Science and or track Data Science and or the master's study programme Multimedia) don't need to submit additional documentation (Transcript of Records and Certificate of Graduation) because the faculty will obtain the data independently.

  • Which documentation must graduates of other faculties within the Republic of Slovenia submit?

Candidates who have already graduated from another faculty within the Republic of Slovenia, must submit (through the eVŠ portal) a copy of the Diploma Certificate (or a copy of Certificate of Graduation) and a copy of the Diploma Supplement (or Transcript of Records). Candidates, who will not yet have graduated by the date of submission of the documentation, must subsequently supplement their application in the eVŠ portal with a copy of a Certificate of Graduation and a copy of Transcript of Records.

  • By when must I graduate (or submit a Certificate of Graduation) in order to be included in the selection of candidates for enrolment in master's study programmes at FRI?

All candidates who submit an application for master's study programmes at FRI for the academic year 2026/2027 must graduate no later than 15 September 2026. Additional documentation is submitted through the eVŠ portal only by candidates who graduate at another faculty.

  • Is enrolment possible without previously graduating?

No. Without graduation, only the application is possible. Only candidates who have graduated from an appropriate undergraduate study programme can enrol in master's study programmes at FRI.
