• FRI Piškot: Christophe Sandt - Aplikacije, razvoj in izzivi pri analizi podatkov (mikrospektroskopija FTIR)
Napovedi

O mikrospektroskopiji FTIR bo na zadnjem Piškotu letos govoril dr. Christophe Sand, ki je zaposlen pri pariškem sinhrotronu SOLEIL.

Predavanje bo v četrtek, 21. 12. 2017, ob 12.15 v predavalnici P22.

FTIR microspectroscopy. Applications, developments and data analysis challenges.

Povzetek:

FTIR microspectroscopy is a versatile technique with applications in biology, chemistry, physics, astrophysics, environment and historical heritage. It provides a wealth of information on the chemical composition and the structure of matter at the submillimeter scale.

Synchrotron sources allow pushing the spatial resolution to the diffraction limit and beyond, reaching the micron scale. New methods were recently implemented to attain the nanoscale. We will illustrate some of the applications of the method at the SMIS beamline of SOLEIL synchrotron  and discuss some of the challenges in data analysis. The technique has been developed for years as a diagnostic method but has yet to gain wide support in the medical community, maybe because of shortcomings in data analysis.
